MumNet Membership FAQ's:
What is the AGM?
The AGM is held once a year to elect the Board of Directors, hear the annual reports of the Board, and other business requiring membership approval, such as revisions to our by-laws. At the event we also host a speaker or workshop that we hope will provide insightful knowledge and interesting perspective for our members. There will be no speaker on Tuesday, February 27th - this meeting will be short and sweet.
What is an "Active" Member?
At MumNet, we have two membership categories: Group Members and Active Members. Group Members, as the name suggests, are the members of our program groups. Active Members are those who volunteer in positions that support the running of the network. This includes Leaders, Area Coordinators, Group Admin Reps (Fundraising, Childcare, Communications and Finance), Board Members, and people who volunteer on various sub-committees of the Board, such as the Gala, Newslink or Fundraising. While Group Members are welcome to attend the AGM, voting rights are reserved for Active Members.
Life is already so busy - do I really need to attend?
Membership has its privileges…and its responsibilities. Volunteers are the lifeblood of MumNet, and your contribution is crucial. As someone who is actively involved in our organization, you are in the best position to help us make more informed decisions. It’s why we reserve voting privileges – and the making of key decisions that impact your MumNet experience – for our Active Member volunteers. This is why we need you to attend our AGM – members' meetings cannot be held without the members!
