Members meet at local churches and community centres to exercise and network with other mothers.
There are currently 14 MumNet programs, 6 MumVet programs (2 new MumVet groups have been added for this year), and 1 MumExec program offered by Metro Mothers Network.
Introduced two years ago, MumExec is MumNet's latest program offering, aimed at mums who work full time. MumExec continues as a pilot program for the 2010/11 year, in a new west-end location at Humbercrest United Church, near Jane and Bloor. With the addition of MumExec, working mums can now take advantage of all that MumNet offers and build a support network with like-minded mothers in their community. MumExec sessions take place one weekday evening per month, and do not include a fitness component or childcare. New for the 2011/2012 year: seven scheduled social evenings, in addition to the regular scheduled MumExec meeting.
The MumNet and MumVet programs are divided into three terms:
- Fall term (September to December)
- Winter term (January to March)
- Spring term (March to May)
A group exercise program is offered with the MumNet and MumVet programs.
On-site childcare and group discussion are offered for all MumNet and MumVet programs; childcare is not available for MumExec programs.
Registration for all three programs takes place in September at the church or community centre that each group will be meeting at.
Once registered, MumNet and MumVet members retain priority registration for each subsequent term of the year joined. (MumExec members register for the full year in September; no additional registration is required from Sept. - June.) After the September registration is completed, the Office Manager maintains a centralized waiting list. As space becomes available, the Office Manager will contact the mothers on the waiting list to register them for a specific group.
To inquire about space availability at any of the groups after the September registration period, new members can call the information line at 416-487-MUMS [6867] or email the Office Manager to be added to the centralized waiting list. (Please note that our office manager works part-time; your call or email will be recorded in order of receipt, and replied to within a few days.)
MEMBERS FORUM
When you become a member of Metro Mothers Network by registering in one of our programs, you are eligible to participate in our members forum.
All members can register and join the online forum with other mothers to exchange ideas and provide support through the wonderful years of motherhood!
Volunteer members (group leaders, administrative representatives and Board of Director members) will have their own space to share ideas and have access to important documents and resources to help them with their positions.
